Usually the tooling plates are used for quick change setups.

The tooling plates are mounted by locating screws at the top two corners of the tooling block.

The figure below shows the procedure for mounting the tooling plates on the tooling block

Platform Tooling Plate

Platform Tooling Plate is a raised tooling plate for machining center pallets. Allows tool access to low workpieces that would normally be below minimum spindle height on horizontal machining centers.

Figure below represents a platform tooling plate with workpience aligned for horizontal machining center.

Angle Tooling Plate

Angle Tooling Plate is used to mount the workpiece, clamps and locators perpendicular to the tooling surface. The bottom of angle tooling plate is bolted accurately to the tooling plate by means of locating screws and locating bushes.

Clamps and locators are mounted on the vertical face.

Figure below shows the application of short angle plates for clamping a part perpendicular to the base tooling plate.

Tall Angle Tooling Plate

Adjoining figure shows the application of suport cylinder.

The tall support clinder is used for locating the workpiece while the short cylinders support the workpiece.

Hexagonal Rest Pad

Heaxagonal head rest pad provides a rigid support for most of applications. The rest pad can be directly screwd into the Tooling Plate. Not very accurate but very handy for basic requirements.

Round Head Contact Bolt

Round head contact bolts are used as contact points for non standard surfaces. These contact bolts provide radial contact point for clamps and locators. The contact bolt can be directly mounted on the tooling plates of clamps.

Fixture Locating Pins

Fixture Locating Pins:

Fixture locating pins are mainly used for locating fixtures components with respect to each other. Fixture locating pins can also be used for locating workpieces over the fixture. Following figure shows use of fixture-locating pins for locating vertical tooling plate over tooling block.

Hexagonal Head Spindles/Bolts:

Hexagonal head bolts form standrad component of fixturing.

Serrated Adjustable Edge Clamps

Serrated Adjustable Edge Clamps:

These serrated clamps are ideal for gripping sides of the workpiece to keep the top surface clear for machining. These adjustable clamps can be directly mounted on the machine table. These clamps exert horizontal as well as vertical clamping force so as to hold the workpiece securely on the machine table.

The high nose variant of the edge clamp is ideal for heavy workpeices, while the low nose clamp can be used in cases where extra machining clearance is required. Figure below shows serrated adjustable clamps.

Fixed Single Edge Serrated Clamp

Fixed Double Edge Serrated Clamp

Fixed edge serrated clamps;

These clamps are ideal for clamping the sides of workpiece so as to keep top surface clear for machining. The fixed clamps are very compact and robust and can be efficiently used in permanent fixturing. These clamps exert horizontal as well as vertical clamping force on the workpiece. High nose edge clamps can provide greater clmaping forces for heavy and large workpieces.

Fixed double edge serrated clamp facilitates clamping of two parts simultaneously. Both the noses operate independant of each other.

Figure below shows fixed single edge serrated clamp.

High Nose Serreted Clamps:

Downthrust Backstops

Down thrust backstops:

These backstops are used in tandem with the other clamps to provide downward clamping force on the part. The serrated jaw provides secure clamping. However this is not a very precise piece of equipment and should be used only if precisise horizontal location is not required.

Figure below illustrates use of downthrust clamp.

Slotted Strap Clamps

Slotted Strap Clamps:

Slotted strap clamps are ideal for modular fixtures. The clmaps have slot, which facilitates sliding of the clamp to and fro for proper clamp placement.
